Interviewing Christine Handy
Hello guys once again, I’m Vaibhav and in this article you will be witnessing an inspirational, highly motivated, Cancer survivor, a model, Author of a best selling Book” Walk Beside Me” CHRISTINE HANDY. I think now it is completely clear to you guys why I have titled her a “SUPER WOMAN”.
Now let’s go to the interview questions and see what Christine has to say»»
1. Please tell us few things about yourself.
Christine: My name is Christine Handy.
I am so many things ! I am a best selling author, model, mother, radio show Breast cancer expert, I am getting my masters in English at Harvard university and I am a motivational speaker.
2. Was it your dream to become a model and if yes how do you feel now?
Christine: My dream was to write and publish a book. But for about 25 years I was a model and was very successful but my true dream was to write a book.
3. As a model, how has your life changed?
Christine: Being a model for so long definitely molded me. I started at a young age and that became my career. It shaped me into a hard working person since I started working seriously at a young age, it gave me international perspective because I traveled while I worked. And it taught me a lot about who i was inside. Unfortunately modeling for me kept my focus primarily on the outside and that affected my life negatively.
Because it’s not outside that counts it’s inside. So when I was diagnosed with cancer I was afraid of what I looked like. I lost my hair and lost significant weight and I looked totally different. But through that battle I realized that my looks were nice but those didn’t matter, who I was mattered .
4. You are a cancer survivor, amazing and Gods plan. How has this changed your relationship with God?
Christine: My faith changed through cancer for sure. I was lucky enough to have many courageous women stand by me and guide me to better faith and a stronger relationship with God throughout my cancer battle. I am lucky they taught me about Gods love, grace and forgiveness ! It gave me the courage I needed to get through the cancer battle and the crisis with my arm.
5. What do want to say to those suffering from Cancer.
Christine: To those suffering with cancer , stay the course. It can be long and horrible but God’s gifts remain. It’s hard to always see that but if you focus on Him the suffering looks different . I was so desperate when I was diagnosed with cancer I plotted my suicide. But through faith and friends I got out of that desperate pain and trudged through the chemotherapy and surgeries until I was healthy enough to not only stand on my own but to write my book to use my pain to help others.
Pain is pain, but if we can inspire and give hope through cancer it helps the next brave soul who gets the next diagnosis. Let’s help each other and lighten each other’s loads.
6. What is your book all about ” Walk beside me”.
Christine: My book “ Walk Beside Me” is a fictional depiction of my life and my transformation! It is a beautiful story of pain but triumph. It’s a tale of friendship and survival. It starts with my modeling and perfect life that turned on me. But the beauty in the story is that cancer taught me who I was and ultimately gave me the courage to set my life on a different path, a path of helping others.
I love my book, it’s helped so many people and for that I am eternally grateful. I prayed for God to give me a story to write, I wouldn’t have chosen such a painful path but it’s the story God gave me and my duty to share. We are all stewards and lucky if we can ignite hope in others.
7. Being a mother. What is the most basic thing you started teaching to them?
Christine: As a mother the basic thing I taught my sons was respect! They have turned into wonderful young men and I am grateful God entrusted me with them. My boys have been through a lot because of my illnesses and they are better men for it. I believe they have learned compassion and empathy, that is a gift.
8. What is your opinion About Women’s upliftment.
Christine: Dedicate my life now to empowering women and minorities. It’s so unfortunate to watch people be treated differently than others . Wealth, color, race or status do not make someone better or more important. We are all created equal! Period.
9. When it comes to equality, what things come into your mind first and how does it all started.
Christine: Equality starts inside, it’s a heart issue. When people get right with their heart and God then inequality and prejudice runs away.
10. Christine, you are an inspiration to many and we are really happy to mention you in the article. What you have to say to the readers in General!
Christine: I love readers! It’s such a gift to listen , read, get to know another’s story or pain as we can take bits and pieces and allow it to help inspire us every single day!
If we didn’t have wiling readers we wouldn’t be able to share and teach.
This is the type of inspiration one needs in their life because life is full of surprises no matter Good or Bad but, it will teach you something, mold you into a new creation and at the end when you look back, You see God’s Plan for you was different then you actually thought. Christine has accomplished so much in life and I, Vaibhav is really honored to have her here and I’m once again thankful to you guys for reading this article.
